Stewardship Letter

Dear Members and Friends of Lake Mills United Methodist Church,

Grace and peace be with you all. I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing dedication and generous support of our beloved Lake Mills United Methodist Church (LMUMC) family. Through your contributions, we are able to continue the important work of serving our community and deepening our faith.

As we continue our sacred journey together through the Missional Church Consultation Initiative (MCCI) and Breakthrough Prayer, I invite each of you to reflect deeply on our shared mission and the importance of active participation. Our UMC membership policy calls for all members to actively engage in the life of the church, which means joining together in worship, study, service, and witness. These are the commitments that we make as part of our discipleship—to grow in faith and to be the light, salt, and fragrance of Christ in the world. This journey is not meant for just a few. It involves every one of us, bringing our unique gifts, talents, and resources to serve God and one another. I encourage you to:

Participate actively in our Breakthrough Prayer initiative, using the prayer card you received, asking for God’s guidance as we seek new directions for our church and community: “Guide us, Lord, and give us the energy, courage, and sense of adventure to see the great things you have in store for us. Shine your light through us so our service and witness become contagious.”

Join our upcoming events, as they are opportunities to connect, share, and grow together.

We are seeking a deeper walk with Jesus, following Him with hearts full of commitment. Together, we will be amazed by the great things God will do as we break through our limited thoughts and embrace God’s expansive vision.

The Power of Stewardship

We are reminded of the call to stewardship in 1 Peter 4:10:

“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God,

serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.”

This verse invites us to recognize that God has gifted each of us with something special to contribute, whether it is our time, skills, or financial resources. Stewardship is not just about giving; it is about participating in the growth and health of our church community.

As we continue our stewardship journey, I ask you to prayerfully consider your role in this shared responsibility. We all have something to offer, and our contributions are vital to the mission of the church.

Rev. Seongmin Kim

The Importance of Your Giving

Your contributions touch every aspect of our ministry and make a real difference.

Here is how your financial gifts are being used:

1. General Offering

Your general offering supports everything we do as a church. Includes:

Paying our five dedicated staff members who work tirelessly to keep our ministries running smoothly.

Supporting our paid musicians enhances our worship experiences.

Covering the costs of all ministry events, projects, and programs—from worship services to community outreach.

Providing essential resources and supplies: from Bibles and study materials to office tools and equipment.

Maintaining our building: utilities, air conditioning, pest control, and even the fire alarm system.

Keeping our church connected through Wi-Fi, YouTube channel services, and more.

Every detail, from the lights that illuminate our sanctuary to the thermostat that keeps us comfortable, is made possible by your general offering. Your contributions ensure that our church remains a vibrant, welcoming place for all.

2. Capital Expenditures

The physical spaces where we gather are just as important as the programs and ministries we offer. Your gifts to Capital Expenditures help us take care of our church buildings and parsonage.

Current Projects Include:

Installing new furnaces and A/C units for the sanctuary and education wings.

Repairing parts of the church roof and fixing skylights to ensure the building is safe and functional.

Replacing the about 40-year-old roof, siding, and windows on the parsonage to protect and enhance this vital space for our pastor.

Your continued support of these projects ensures that our church remains a safe and welcoming space for generations to come.

3. Shared Giving (Apportionments)

As part of the United Methodist Church, we have a wider responsibility to our global community. Through your gifts to Shared Giving (Apportionments), we help support:

Global missions: bringing hope and resources to people in need around the world.

Outreach programs: providing education, disaster relief, and health services.

Supporting UMC ministries that make a difference both locally and globally, expanding our impact far beyond Lake Mills.

Together, we fulfill the call to be the hands and feet of Christ, reaching out to those in need with love and compassion.

How You Can Help

In your bulletin, you will find a Pledge Card. We kindly ask you to prayerfully consider your Pledge for 2025. Each gift, no matter the size, plays a crucial role in keeping our ministries thriving and our church community strong. Please take a moment to complete the Pledge Card included in your bulletin and submit it during this week’s service.
