Embarking on a new Journey

Dear Beloved Lake Mills UMC families,

Our church is embarking on an exciting journey! On September 22, we will officially launch the Missional Church Consultation Initiative (MCCI) - a powerful opportunity for us to grow together as a congregation and deepen our partnership with God.

What is MCCI?

MCCI is an intensive consultation and clergy coaching model that helps churches identify and rally around their strengths and vision for growth. It honors our past, celebrates our present, and equips us to partner with God for the future. Developed by the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2011, MCCI is a two-year process that has been prayerfully adopted by churches recommended by our Bishop and the Wisconsin Conference cabinet, and we are excited to begin this journey together.

Our First Step: The Breakthrough Prayer Initiative

What is it?The Breakthrough Prayer Initiative is a daily, church-wide prayer practice uniting us in two ways:

1.     Asking God for new possibilities

2.     Surrendering to God’s plan for our church

Who is it for? It’s for everyone — from children to elders, staff and congregants, pastors and laypersons, ministry teams, committees, small groups, and classes.

Our congregation already prays for healing, protection, and comfort. Now, through this Breakthrough Prayer initiative, we will boldly seek God’s guidance for fresh ideas, new hopes, and God’s preferred future for our church and community.

Recent Activities and Upcoming Events

On August 17, members from our LMUMC congregation joined Pastor Seongmin Kim at a Breakthrough Prayer training at St. Paul’s UMC in Stevens Point. We’re excited to introduce the Breakthrough Prayer to our church in late September as we kick off the MCCI program. Each Sunday, leading up to September 22nd, a member who participated in the Breakthrough Prayer training will share during announcements about the power of prayer and what we’ve learned in our training.

Mark Your Calendars:

We are honored to welcome two distinguished guest preachers in September:

  • September 15: Reverend Dr. Ebenezer Insor, our Southeast District Superintendent, will deliver a special message.

  • September 22: Reverend Dr. Scott Carlson, Director of Congregational Development for the Wisconsin Conference, will inspire us as we officially begin our visioning journey with MCCI.

These leaders from the Wisconsin Conference will inspire us and provide detailed insights as we begin this important project. Your participation in this journey is crucial. Your presence and prayers are vital as we step into this new season of growth and transformation. We encourage all members to participate in this journey, and we can’t wait to see what God has in store for us!

Get Involved

  • Visit the Breakthrough Prayer Table: Each Sunday, stop by the table in the Narthex, write your prayer for God’s guidance on a post-it note, and place it on the wall.

  • Join Us for Worship: Don’t miss the special services on September 15th and 22nd as we gather together in faith and unity.

If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Seongmin Kim or any member of the LMUMC leadership.

Let’s journey together in faith, trusting that God will lead us to new and greater things. We look forward to embarking on this journey together with you.

See you on September 15th and 22nd!
